The Principals of BMA have over 60 years of collective experience working for hundreds of organizations on VR (value recovery) and RM (risk mitigation) solutions for surplus properties throughout the US and international locations. BMA’s multi-disciplined team provides the mix of skills and experience needed to identify and implement the best VR options and RM strategies. Our team includes professionals and experts in the areas of real estate, environmental, risk mitigation and information management services. ADAM MEEK
CEO / Founding Member
Adam Meek is BMA’s primary VR (value recovery) and RM (risk mitigation) advisor. Over the past 20 years, Adam has developed strategies to maximize value and minimize risks for hundreds of clients with surplus properties and legacy liabilities. Prior to founding BMA, Adam was a partner in the Real Estate Group at DLA Piper, a 3,700-attorney international law firm, where he led the US environmental transaction team and specialized in complex corporate and real estate transactions involving environmentally impacted properties. As Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s 85-attorney Real Estate Green Team, he advised clients on sustainable development and value recovery strategies for their properties, including brownfield redevelopment, protective divestment, renewable energy development incentives, monetization of ecosystem services, third-party cost recovery, insurance recovery and other VR and RM strategies. EDWARD LOWENBAUM
Principal / Founding Member
Ed Lowenbaum manages the BMA’s primary real estate advisory team. Ed has spent over 25 years in developing real estate and representing companies in the construction, acquisition and disposition of commercial properties and land. His perspective on the both the developer/owner side and the user side gives the BMA client a full spectrum solution to the disposition of environmentally challenged properties. Understanding the long term liabilities of both selling and operating brownfield properties allows BMA to develop solutions that are more marketable and have a higher probability of success. JON MARINAS
President / Founding Member
Jon Marinas is BMA’s primary environmental and technology specialist and is the founder and current managing member of JMM Management Group, LLC, an environmental asset management solutions and operational compliance management company. He has been instrumental in the development of Internet/Web-Based Management Information Systems for BMA and JMM, including the Integrated Property Management System (IPMS®) and the Brownfield Online Connexion (BOX™). JAMES MITCHELL
James Mitchell has practiced environmental law since 1997, with extensive experience in real estate and corporate transactional due diligence and contract negotiation, compliance counseling, site remediation management, cost recovery, placement of environmental insurance and insurance recovery matters. Through BMA and his legal practice, Jim counsels clients on recovering value and managing the risks and liabilities associated with the ownership, acquisition, development and disposition of properties with adverse environmental conditions. He has managed matters ranging in size and complexity from the disposition of single contaminated parcels to $100-million plus transactions involving dozens of industrial properties throughout the U.S. and North America. Jim is also experienced in the areas of monetizing ecosystem services, sustainable development and “green” leasing. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1997.
 
CATHERINE LANG
Catherine Lang is Brownfield Management Associates’ chief program manager. She oversees Remediation Management operations and is a contributing member to the development of the ROX™ retail risk transfer system. Catherine handles the procurement of critical client facility details for the Brownfield Online Connexion (BOX™). Catherine also plays an essential role in supporting customers that are in the divestiture phase or for those that are interested in real estate redevelopment opportunities. She brings insight and experience to BMA's approach to property management. Catherine earned a B.S. degree in Communication, Culture and Advocacy at Northern Illinois University, while also focusing her coursework on Geology.
 
JASON TALANIAN
Jason Talanian provides comprehensive real estate brokerage and advisory services for institutional, corporate and private clients in the areas of property acquisition/dispositions and property valuation. Jason is a Partner at Lowenbaum REP; prior to joining Lowenbaum REP in March 2009, Mr. Talanian was part of Brokerage Services at CB Richard Ellis following its merger with Trammell Crow Company in December 2006. Previous to his service with Trammell Crow Company, he was a Branch Sales Manager for Advanced Business Tech, Inc. Mr. Talanian earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He is a licensed real estate sales professional in the State of Illinois. Mr. Talanian is on the Young Professionals Board of the Chicago Special Olympics and is a member of the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers Association.
